Posting a picture on TEA takes a bit of work, but does not require any special permission.
First
You need to have a picture to post. Assuming it is already on your computer, you need to verify that it is small enough. TEA has an upper limit on picture size in bytes, usually set at 100kB. This means large pictures need to be re-sized. Image sizes between 300 and 600 pixels on the largest side work well. Many digital cameras and even cell phones produce images that are larger. Unfortunately there are too many different software packages out there to describe how to shrink a picture, although you might see what options your software has if you are adventurous.
Start Your Post
Pictures can be posted either as a New Topic or as a reply post, and the process is similar. What does NOT work is the "Quick Reply" at the bottom of the page as you are reading a post. You need to either select "Add Topic" near the top, or click the "Reply" icon associated with the post for which you are replying. You will get a screen that looks like this:
(Figure 1. Compose Menu)
The Red "1" and "2" are added by me and are not visible on your screen.
Compose the text in your post as you normally would in the "Body" window. Don't forget to add a Subject. Then use the Manage files link under "File Attachments" (see 1) to bring up a pop-up window. You need to follow three steps with that pop-up window
1) "Browse" to find the file on your computer
2) "Add" to upload the file from your computer to TEA
(you can repeat steps 1 & 2 for up to 5 pictures)
3) Click "Finished" to close out the window.
Popup window to add files
Now click the "Add Post" at the bottom of the screen. If your post is going to a Gallery, you are done. Unfortunately that is probably not the case and you need to do some more work, as a link will appear but your pictures will not actually appear in the post.
Making the pictures appear!
This is the hardest part, and you only need to do this to post pictures in something other than a gallery. Go read your post. Click the blue link/text associated with the file. For example at the bottom of this post you'll see
Attachment: picpost1.jpg (38.09 KB) 1 View(s)
When you click it you will see the image that you uploaded. You need to select the entire URL from the top of your browser (the little window where you type in things like www.theeroticadvocate.com to go to TEA), and use the mouse right-click "copy" function to copy that URL. Then, click the "Edit" button at the bottom of your post, and position the cursor in the text where you want the picture to actually appear. Use the "Image" button (Number 2 in the top figure) to get a little pop-up window. Use your mouse right-click function to "paste" over the highlighted "http:" that comes up in the pop-up window, and click OK to dismiss the pop-up window. The image will appear at that point in your post AFTER you click "Submit Change" at the bottom of your screen. You can repeat this multiple times to include multiple pictures.
